As a Building and Code Inspector, you will be responsible for performing inspections of new and existing buildings, assessing their adherence to building codes, zoning regulations, and safety standards. You will review construction plans, conduct on-site inspections, and issue permits for building projects. Your keen attention to detail will be crucial in identifying any violations and recommending appropriate corrective actions.

Responsibilities

• Conduct inspections of residential, commercial, and industrial buildings to ensure compliance with building codes and regulations.
• Review construction plans, blueprints, and specifications to evaluate compliance with applicable codes and standards.
• Perform inspections at various stages of construction, including foundation, framing, electrical, plumbing, and final inspections.
• Identify and document any violations or non-compliance issues.
• Recommend appropriate corrective actions and ensure compliance with recommendations.
• Work closely with architects, engineers, contractors, and other professionals involved in the construction process.
• Process permit applications and issue permits upon successful inspection and compliance.
• Provide guidance and assistance to property owners, developers, and contractors regarding code compliance and regulations.
• Maintain accurate inspection records and documentation.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications:

• Proven experience as a Building and Code Inspector or in a related field.
• Extensive knowledge of local, state, and national building codes and regulations.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.
• Ability to interpret and understand construction plans and specifications.
• Proficiency in using inspection tools and equipment.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Certification as a Building and Code Inspector is preferred.
